Better health with horses
Oct 15, 2008 – Pacific & Prairie Horse Journal
By Elaine Little
Joel Hooper left home at 18 and wished never to return. He educated himself and excelled at his job, however a series of unfortunate happenings left him in difficult times.
One day Hooper received notice that his father died and left him the Circle H Ranch and a non-lucrative Quarter Horse business. The ranch was falling apart in every aspect, but the horses were well-bred and well-fed on the lush pastures in a beautiful Montana setting. Joel decided to stick around for awhile before dumping his inheritance and moving on with his life.
As the book leads us through Joel's journey, we discover the peace and serenity of living in the country, as he becomes committed to the Circle H's survival. Joel's mental health improves with day to day sobriety, hard work with the horses, the companionship and responsibility horses require of him, and the love of his surroundings.
Written in cowboy language, this is a feel good book and a pleasant read with happy successes along the trail. We never tire of hearing how horses can better our mental and physical lives.
